Its looking like there will be plenty of good movies for seniors this year. There is a mixture of superhero movies, actions films and some great remakes from the 70’s and 80’s on the way in 2016.
Don’t worry if you’re unsure which movies are coming out for you because Carelink24 is here to give you a look at the top five movies we think you are going to enjoy.
Independence Day: Resurgance
20 years after the original smash hit starring Will Smith we finally get a sequel – The aliens are back!! Although Mr Smith is not returning this time round, plenty of the original cast members are, including Jeff Goldrum!
Admit it, you always wondered what would happened if the aliens returned to avenge their defeat. Well now they have but it turns out that the humans have been preparing for this very moment. The human race is now heavily armed with extra-terrestrial weapons and fighter planes built from the remains of the alien’s spaceships.
This is a chance to return to one of the most popular films of the 90’s. There is a possibility that with all the modern technology being thrown into the movie that it will be just as good if not better than the original.
Of course Carelink24 would advise that you watch the original movie before going to see the new one – just so you can re-fresh your memory!
Captain America: Civil War
We love the Marvel cinematic universe here at Carelink24! Ever since the first Iron Man movie we, just like most of the world, have been hooked. All of the characters link together and there is just so much action going on. Everybody has their favourite Avenger but in the latest Captain America movie it looks like we may have to take sides.
The clue is in the name: Civil War. Following the recent events of the Avengers Movies the Government has decided that enough is enough and that the Avengers must be held accountable for their actions.
Whilst all of this is going down Captain America is trying to protect his best friend Bucky, aka The Winter Soldier, from government forces. Throw Iron Man into the mix and tensions begin to rise and in the recent trailer we see Tony Stark getting a beat down from Cap and The Winter soldier.
Get ready marvel fans – things may not be the same after this movie.
Ghostbusters
Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! That’s right the 80’s classic is finally back for a third-outing, although this time things are a little bit different. The new Ghostbusters squad is all-female with Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones taking over. Some of the original cast are set to make a cameo appearance though with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson all confirmed.
Not much is known about the plot as of yet and this was always going to be a risk given the success of the original movie. The director, Paul Feig, has a good record in recent years however with movies such as Bridesmaids and The Heat.
Everybody loved Ghostbusters back in the day and here’s the perfect chance to relive your youth. The film is expected to be released in July.
The Magnificent Seven
Next in our top movies for seniors post is a western classic from 1960 which is about to be given the reboot treatment! This is one for the male Carelink24 customers who have probably seen their fair share of westerns over the years.
Out of all the westerns, The Magnificent Seven is one of the most popular and well-known films. The original included plenty of that generation’s big names including Steve McQueen and Eli Wallach.
The 2016 edition matches this with Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Byung-Hun Lee. The plot will likely be the same as the original – not like that will matter to any western fans!
It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper western movie and this could be one of the best ever. The Magnificent Seven is expected to be released in September.
Dad’s Army
Last up in our top movies for seniors in 2016 is everyone’s favourite 70’s wartime British comedy. The original Dad’s Army TV series become an instant classic as the nation sat back and watched Captain Mainwaring’s Home Guard try their best to protect and prepare for a German invasion.
The new movie is set towards the end of the Second World War, once again in the fictional town of Walmington-on-Sea. There is plenty of star power as well with Bill Nighy, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Blake Harrison and Michael Gambon appearing in the movie.
The plot is said to be about a German spy hiding out in the Home Guard platoon’s town – whilst a journalist is sent to report on the group for her newspaper. Expect there to be plenty of laughs and giggles throughout the movie.
The TV series is legendary and to this very day children still like to sit with their grandparents and watch an episode or two. The movie is due out on February 5 – Lets hope it doesn’t let the TV series down in any way.
