When purchasing a personal alarm from Carelink24 we also give you the option to add one of our key safes to your order. These brilliant devices add more security to your home, but more importantly they can also make you feel comfortable and safe.
The idea behind a Key Safe is to ensure that keys to your home are always kept secure, and away from criminals. Rather than keeping your keys under the door mat, or under a plant pot, you can lock them away behind a locked door, of which a security code is needed to gain access.
We currently have two different key safes on offer, one of which is police approved and another which has been manufactured by Yale - a huge company within the home security industry. Let's take a look at these two key safes in more depth.
Supra C500
The Supra C500 is one of only two key safes to be approved by the police* here in the UK. This model has been put through rigorous tests and has received LPS1175 Level 1 Accreditation, which means that the device is "as attack resistant as a domestic front door."
Th C500 has a strong zinc alloy outer shell and comes with a rigid weather cover to help protect it from any damage. It is also water and rust resistant, and has a clever clutch mechanism which prevents the handle from being forced open.
Other features include:
• A 12-digit key pad which can store around 4000 different code combinations
• A large storage vault which can store up to six keys, depending on their size.
• An integral hook which ensures easy access to your keys
The safe comes with all the fittings you will need to install it at your home. Alongside these fittings you will need a drill, a 5mm masonry drill bit and a screwdriver.Remember when you decide on your access code to make a note of it so that you don’t forget it
and only tell the people who you wish to have a key to your home – such as close family members.
The length of your code is up to you but if you decide to go with the full 12-digit code then there are around 500 million different combinations to choose from!!
The Supra C500 costs £89 – which is a brilliant price for a device that adds so much more security to your home. It is easy to set-up and to use, meaning that you can ensure that only people CHOSEN by you can access your home.
Yale Y500
Alternatively you can choose the Yale Y500 key safe. As previously mentioned, this key safe has been manufactured by home security experts Yale. This company have plenty of knowledge and experience when it comes to making your home secure, providing other great products such as padlocks, home view cameras and security alarms.
The Yale Y500 is a lightweight key safe but it features a strong die-cast body to help keep your keys secure. The device can store up to three keys in its storage compartment.
Other features include:
• A weather resistant case
• A 4-pin combination lock which can be re-set
• A protective plastic sliding lock cover so that the code keys remain silent
• Concealed fittings for maximum security
We suggest that you make your 4-pin code as tricky as possible for people to guess. Try and avoid using the same number more than twice and just like with the Supra C500, only inform close family members of your code.
This Key Safe costs just £39 which is a great price for something that is going to make you feel safe in your home – and more comfortable when you are away from your home. We would advise that with both Key Safes you should do a test run after creating your new code – just to make sure that it works.
